Tottenham hold initial talks with Brentford over £60m Bryan Mbeumo transfer in major blow to Man Utd

TOTTENHAM have entered talks with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo, according to reports.

Bryan Mbeumo, 25, has been heavily linked with a summer transfer to Manchester United, with earlier reports suggesting the forward was keen on a move to Old Trafford.

However, according to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur have now emerged as serious contenders for the Brentford star’s signature. The surprise development comes in the wake of Thomas Frank’s potential appointment, sparking talk of a reunion between the player and coach.

While the Cameroon international was initially thought to favour a switch to United, sources now claim he is “intrigued” by the idea of reuniting with Frank at White Hart Lane — adding a dramatic twist to one of the summer’s most anticipated transfer battles.

Initial negotiations have reportedly taken place between Tottenham and Brentford over a potential deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

The development comes shortly after Spurs finalized a deal worth around £10 million to bring in Thomas Frank and his backroom team — including highly-rated coach Justin Cochrane.

Brentford are believed to value Mbeumo at approximately £60 million, a figure that reflects both his Premier League experience and increasing influence at the club.

Speaking recently, Frank himself acknowledged the forward’s worth, hinting that any potential exit would require a “significant fee.”

The new Spurs boss said of Mbeumo while still in charge of Brentford: “It is clear that if he is to be sold, it must be for a nice, nice amount. It is a lot. Mucho. Really a lot.

“How many wingers score 20 goals for a mid-table club? And then with seven assists plus his work ethic. And his character. All these things mean that he has a lot, so he is a good player.”

Bryan Mbeumo was originally brought to West London by Thomas Frank in 2019, and the forward has since thrived under the Danish coach’s guidance.

Last season alone, the Cameroon international netted an impressive 20 Premier League goals, establishing himself as one of Brentford’s most reliable attacking threats.

As reported earlier this week by SunSport, Tottenham are actively pursuing a move to hijack Manchester United’s pursuit of the forward.

Technical director Johan Lange is expected to take the lead in negotiations, as Spurs look to reunite Mbeumo with the manager who first unlocked his potential.

Lange has a good relationship with Frank, with the pair having worked together at Lyngby in Denmark.

Spurs are chasing a new winger this summer, with Mbeumo among their top targets.

Also of interest is Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.
