In what could become one of the most seismic shifts in recent motocross history, Team Honda HRC is reportedly in advanced talks to sign Eli Tomac to a two-year contract, sources close to the matter reveal. The deal, if finalized, would unite Tomac with current Honda stars Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, and Chance Hymas—forming what many are already calling a “super team.”

🔴 Honda’s Power Play

After back-to-back dominant seasons led by Jett Lawrence and a consistently strong performance from Hunter Lawrence in both Supercross and Motocross, Honda is looking to bolster its 450cc depth chart with a veteran presence. Enter Eli Tomac—a living legend, multi-time champion, and proven force on the track.

The rumored contract would cover the 2026 and 2027 seasons, signaling that Tomac, who has flirted with retirement, may be eyeing one final run at glory with one of the sport’s most iconic factory teams.

Honda team insiders have expressed interest in adding a seasoned champion to help mentor the younger riders while still contending for titles.

“Eli brings championship pedigree, experience, and still has the speed to win. Pairing him with the Lawrence brothers could be one of the smartest and most exciting moves Honda has ever made,” said an anonymous team source.

Tomac’s current status with Monster Energy Star Yamaha Racing remains uncertain. While the team has expressed a desire to retain him, sources say Tomac is intrigued by the opportunity to ride Honda’s latest CRF450R and contribute to an already elite program.

🔮 What This Means

If the deal is completed, it would mark Tomac’s return to Honda machinery—he began his pro career on a GEICO Honda in the 250 class. With the Lawrence brothers, Hymas, and now potentially Tomac, Honda could dominate the landscape for the foreseeable future.
