Eli Tomac Opens Up About Final Contract and Retirement Plans in Candid Interview

Eli Tomac, born on November 14, 1992, in Cortez, Colorado, is a distinguished American professional motocross and supercross racer. He launched his professional career in 2010 with a remarkable debut victory in the AMA 250cc Motocross season opener. Over the years, Tomac has amassed an impressive record, including multiple championships: the 2012 AMA Supercross 250cc West, 2013 AMA Motocross 250cc, and several 450cc titles in both Supercross and Motocross. Notably, he has secured 53 AMA 450cc Supercross wins, placing him second on the all-time list, and 32 AMA 450cc Motocross wins, ranking third all-time.

In a recent interview that sent ripples through the motocross world, Tomac officially confirmed that the 2025 season will be his final year of professional racing. “The 2025 season will be my final season, there is no doubt about it,” he stated unequivocally, bringing an end to months of speculation about whether he might extend his career even further.

This confirmation comes on the heels of a renewed contract with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, which will see Tomac compete through the entirety of the 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship. The deal includes Supercross, Motocross, and the three-round SuperMotocross World Championship Finals — a fittingly comprehensive schedule for a farewell tour of one of the sport’s greatest.

“I feel like this is the right time,” Tomac said. “Physically, I still feel competitive, and I want to go out while I’m still at the top of my game. I didn’t want to fade out. I wanted to finish strong, with fans remembering me for my best performances.”

He also addressed the thought process behind his final contract. “I had options. There were a few different scenarios on the table, but ultimately, I wanted to stay with a team that believes in me and gives me the tools to win. Yamaha has done that consistently, and I’m grateful to finish my career here.”

Tomac’s final chapter is already off to a strong start. At the 2025 season opener in San Diego, he silenced any doubters with a commanding victory, taking the points lead and showing that he’s far from winding down. It was a statement win — not just for the leaderboard, but for his legacy.

Despite the physical toll of back-to-back seasons interrupted by injury, Tomac remains upbeat. “I’ve had some tough breaks, but I’m still hungry. This last season isn’t about just showing up — it’s about winning. It’s about giving everything I’ve got one last time.”

As he enters his farewell tour, Tomac’s presence on the track carries a new sense of weight and nostalgia. Every gate drop is a reminder of the decade and a half of dominance he’s delivered to fans around the world.

Whether it’s on the top step of the podium or battling through a hard-fought main event, Eli Tomac’s final season promises to be one filled with emotion, fierce competition, and the celebration of one of motocross and supercross’s all-time greats.
